In the Canon lineup, the 200mm f/2.8L seems to be one of the better choices. Although Jerry rates the Nikon 180mm f/2.8 ED as slightly better. I got an "ugly" Nikon 180/2.8 ED manual focus (it has a ding on the rear element!) for well under $150.
