If you have the message popup activated, confirm that is says unavailable when you come to a stop. Park somewhere safe, shutoff the van. Open the door and pop the hood. Get out and open it up and prop it up on the kickstand. Get back to the seat, start the car, close the door, confirm the message center says hood open.

Permanently disabling it is easy. Open your hood. Look at the black terminal on your battery. There's a little wire connector. Pull the blue plastic tab out and pull the connector out. This will completely disable the idol stop and your engine will stay running. There will always be an alert on your dash panel that there is an idol start fault.
